Here and Now

What a great camp.  I know that God is working with many of you.  

I am excited about what is happening.

Here are some highlights from camp.

At our Wednesday night meeting we discussed many things.  Things that we can do right here and right now to impact those around us.

Here are some of the things we are going to do:

- Saturday, June 30th.  Ministry opportunity.  Emaela, Katie or Sarah will be contacting people with more information. 

- Sunday, July 1, 9am.  Meet in the youth room to have a time of prayer for Sunday School and the church service.

Let us know if God is leading you to do anything.  We want to help make it happen.  As we learned at camp, God wants to use us, we just need to be willing.  He wants to use us right here where we are and right now.
 

Student Life Camp @ Windermere

It's finally here.  We will be leaving Saturday morning at 9am for camp.

Cruise Ship Dinner Theater

Youth please note that if you plan on participating in the dinner theater you need to be at practice either Monday night or Tuesday night or both at 6:30 April 23rd and 24th.

 Even if you are not preforming you will need to come and practice for our finale " Anchors Away". We NEED everyone to help. There's a place for everyone to help - serving, performing, set-up, clean-up. Kim is working on some skits so if you are interested in participating please contact Kim Martin or Peggy Gray.

 

REMEMBER THIS IS ONE OF OUR BIGGEST FUNDRAISER FOR WINDERMERE!!

Romans and Christians returns

After over a year of being banned - I finally let you play R&C again.  Hope you enjoyed it.  I would like to give you a sincere "thank you."  You listened to the rules, did what you were supposed to and I think it was still fun.  My only complaint is that you never let me get out of jail. 

By the way, Caleb put the hole in the wall BEFORE we ever started playing the game. 

I enjoyed last Friday as well.  We did lots of work cleaning (shoes, pumpkins, the youth closet, the van, the baptistry) and various other things.  Dinner was a lot of fun and it is always good when you win the last home game. 

Hope you all enjoyed the coffee house we had for the final 5th Quarter of the year.  Let me know if you would like to that again.

Don't forget this Saturday (Nov 4th) -- we are meeting at church so we can go to yard work for the people that have requested it.  Be at church before 9am.  Lunch will be provided.

What an experience!

I hope each of you that went to Student Life Camp at Windermere had a great experience. 

As we focused on having Phroneo Christou (the attitude of Christ) we learned about Excess, Exposure, Exchange and Examine.  Phillipians 2:5 was the theme verse "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:"

I encourage you to read the entire book of Phillipians to better understand what it means to be like Christ. 

I also encourage you to read Galations 6.  We need to support each other, be encouraged by the promises of God and know that people should see Christ in us through our words and actions.  If this week at camp has changed your life the people around should be able to see a difference in you.

I look forward to seeing each of you on Sunday.  Remember that we will do a report of our experiences at camp on Sunday night at 6.

Windermere

Windermere is quickly approaching. Please make sure all your paper work has been turned in along with your final payment. PLEASE read the page on what to bring and not to bring so no one gets in trouble when we get there for having something they are not supposed to have. 

We will be meeting at church on the 16th in case you want to load your stuff early, Time to be announced soon!  If you want  to bring your stuff with you  please come to church by 9:00 so we can load our stuff and be ready to leave by 9:30 or 10:00. We will be either eating a picnic lunch or stopping in Camdenton for lunch. We will be returning by between 1:00 or 2:00 on Wednesday depending on whether on not we stop  for lunch on the way back. What do you want to do??

Happy New Year

Ok, I realize I'm a bit late - but I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year.

I really enjoyed our New Year's Eve scavenger hunt and candlelight service.  It was a great way to welcome the new year.

We have started band practices again after our holiday break and things seem to be going along - although we miss Rob.  We have several new musicians but we can still use more.  If you want to learn to play an instrument we have people that are willing to give you lessons.  Just show up at 2 on Sundays that we have practice and we will get everything figured out.

Also, if you haven't heard yet, as of Jan 10th Missy and I have two children at our house.  We are their foster parents.  We do not know how long they will stay yet but we welcome you to get to know them.

Barn Swinging and other stuff

The barnswinging trip is quickly approaching.  If you plan on going and have not turned in your money or completed forms they are due by Wednesday the 9th. 

Just to clarify things with the trip - you are responsible for getting to the church before 4 p.m.  The church vans will be leaving the church at 4.  We will NOT be picking you up at school.  I do not know where that rumor came from - but like most rumors it is not true. 

On to other things... 

Phil 4:8 says "Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

Purity is going to be our theme for the Disciple Now event coming in February.  Why do we mention this in November?  Because we need you to start praying for it now.  Pray that the youth will be able to attend.  Pray that the youth will be able to hear God speak to them.  Pray for the leaders of the weekend.  Pray for the host families.  Be watching for more information.

Thanks to everyone who helped make the youth barbecue fund raiser a success.  We hope you enjoyed your meal.

We have had a busy October, filled with service projects, after game fellowships and a fundraiser. In October the youth helped others in the community and in our church by helping give out commodities and helping clean shoes and the youth room.  This week we have the opportunity to serve others by helping at Victory Mission in Springfield. We also have a fundraiser in November. On November 20th you will have the chance to buy your Thanksgiving deserts at our dessert auction.  

We are going to have a Christmas float in the parade. Please pay attention for times and dates to work on the float. Thanks to Duane and JB Simmons for the use their trailer and garage. Come to the parade and see what they've done.

And as I've said - from time to time I will give away something via this blog to the first youth that reads this and does what it says.  So, this time it is your choice of a music CD from the Lord's Library.  To claim this you need to be the first youth that posts a comment to this blog entry.
